Shape Divider - Style tilt
The original building at this location was built around 1880 by Dr. B. F. Allen.  In 1913, the front porch from this building was removed, and the rest of the structure was incorporated into the newly-built brick building. In 1938, the remains of the original building were torn down.

"This picture shows the old Allen House (later known as the Nelson House) in all its former glory. In the picture you may recognize Albert Christensen with his bike; N. M. Nelson on the stepladder; Dr. Henderlighter seated with a newspaper; Mrs. N. M. Nelson and Mary Olson (now Van Vranken) seated and Lina Olson (now Mrs. Butcher) standing; Olaf Hemness has hold of one of the porch posts. This picture was taken at least 40 years ago. "
