This building was built by T. C. James in 1904. Made of hollow concrete blocks, it was one of only a few buildings in the state to be made with this material. The building could hold up to four business at a time, with an east and west side room on the main level and two rooms upstairs. The "James Block" was torn down in 1979, and today the lot is occupied by the Bertha Bartlett Public Library.
