608 Broad St

Photo taken from the Story City Historical Society's collection.
The original brick building at this location was Story City's first brick building, built in 1879. It was built on two lots which are now known as 608 and 606 Broad St. The photo above was taken by a local stereoscopic photographer Martin Morrison in 1885. In 1901, this building collapsed while repair work was being done on the foundation, and a new brick building was built shortly after that matched the design of the brick building directly to the west at 602 Broad St.
