Click on a block below to learn more about the businesses located there. Each address has a timeline of the businesses ​that operated there from the late 1800s to present day. Addresses will be debuted on a weekly basis as the pages are completed and the links to the address will be activated. 
We'd like to thank everyone that has helped with this research project over the years. Several years ago Marilyn Webster started a map-style list of downtown businesses and others have helped fill in the gaps over the years. We've used directories, photographs, and the Story City Herald online database with the hopes of having a more comprehensive list of Story City's downtown businesses. Hannah Haack has been our main researcher and webpage creator on this project, with our museum director, Kate Feil, assisting along the way. We'd also like to thank everyone who shared photos of former downtown businesses with us. 

This project was partially funded using money donated in memory of Kathy Ose. Kathy was the keeper of her family's history and helped the historical society preserve the community's history. We hope this project will honor Kathy's dedication to preserving history.
